Mechanical-, electrical-, control-, instrumentation- and civil engineering services and provision of procurement and construction management services for a 140,000m3 fuel storage facility as part of the OR Tambo International Airport expansion and upgrade project

Engineering was completed by other consultants up to 95% of Stage 3 (Detailed Engineering Designs). The project was handed over to EPCM to onboard and update designs and complete engineering for FEL 3 prior to starting with Stage 4: Procurement and succeeding stages. The project include three tank farms with four tanks having diameters > 19m (4 x 19.5m, 1 x 20m)

Services Provided:

  • Inception phase – Detailed inspections, reviewing and checking of designs and drawings conducted by other engineering consultants;
  • Stage 1, 2 & 3 – Review and onboard of designs. Update and conduct engineering for changes in designs and updates required. Scope include: Surveys, site assessment, concept designs, detail designs (including 3D model), cost estimates, schedule development, review and approval of three gate reviews;
  • Stage 4 – Documentation and Procurement: Technical specifications development for tender documents, budget construction costs, tender documentation development, tender evaluations and recommendations; and
  • Stage 5 & 6 – construction management, contract administration, construction monitoring (level 3: full time) and supervision, commissioning, hand-over and close-out services.
