The MESA 2-D testing equipment from the US is recognised as the most technologically advanced tank testing equipment available worldwide. It is a digitally based system and overcomes the disadvantages of older analogue systems. USEPA approved and independently verified for accuracy it represented a significant advantage over testing methods used previously in SA. During the period March 2016 – Feb 2017 total tanks tested were 879 units.

- Isolation of tanks and lines;
- Testing tanks and lines separately at digitally determined pressures on tanks and oil company specs on distribution lines; and
- Repair and make good any minor integrity leaks found
